The road ahead…

We love the darkness.

Heck, we just published an anthology celebrating the spores, fungus, and mushrooms that grow in the dark parts of the earth.

That’s the fun of horror.

But then we finish the story, close the book, and look around, and sometimes the darkness that our time in the fictional world kept at bay has grown.

It’s during those times that we need to find a light. The lantern in the dark that illuminates the path. The lights in the tunnel that help us navigate through the claustrophobic shadows. The light of a community that welcomes us in.

Horror is a big table, and there’s room for you.

From our very first anthology, Crone Girls Press sought to create an inviting space in our anthologies and in our online presence that offers community to authors and readers, fellow artists and musicians, and anyone who appreciates the bright glow that is the creative spirit.

We wanted to celebrate voices and perspectives and experiences from a diverse array of creators, pay and promote them equitably, and include them in our books. Our submission guidelines include a section about our desire to invite in “Own Voices” and to include voices from marginalized communities such as queer voices, indigenous voices, voices of people of color, disabled voices, neurodivergent voices, and more.

That desire powers the engine that is the Crone Girls Press catalogue—from conception to production to promotion to the community that has answered the invitation to be part of who we are and what we do.

Lighting the road ahead…

Thank you to the authors and artists who have entrusted us with their work. Thank you to our readers who have connected with the stories in our pages and helped us celebrate the voices we share. Thank you to the members of our online community who engage with us every day and help keep our spaces open and welcoming to those who value inclusive communities.

We thank you, and we plan to keep on creating, publishing, celebrating, and promoting our community and the voices in it, hoping to keep shining that light to welcome you in from the darkness. Because we love the gloom and the dread and the fear that good horror fiction can invoke. But we want our lives to be lived in the light.
