Dearest Readers and Fiends,
After several months of deliberating and analysis, I have made the painful decision to close down the Midnight Bites series of three-story, themed anthologies.
It is painful because I think that the fiction we published or were going to publish was some of the best out there, and I still think that fiction in the 15- to 25K-word range is an untapped pleasure. However, I also had to sit down and seriously review all of my personal and professional commitments, and then realized I was extremely over-committed. Rather than continue to tie up our writers’ rights with a series that wasn’t realizing its potential, it made more sense to revert the rights and then start planning to focus on what we do best – the full-length anthologies.
If you’ve been thinking about picking up a copy of any or all of the volumes in the series, we will not take them down until May 15, 2025, so you still have time! After that, we’ll be removing them from publication and all rights will revert to the authors.
Although we are saying goodbye to this series, we are still going strong with plans for the future. Later this year, I’ll have some more information on what our next full-length volume in the Stories We Tell After Midnight series will be, so stay tuned!
Thank you all for your patience and understanding. We look forward to continuing our mission of publishing horror anthologies of excellent short fiction.
