Meet The Author: A.M. Giddings

She/Her

I love this story. Express Delivery is the absolutely flawless addition to our anthology! The story tells the tale of Lilith’s vengeance against a vile man named Cameron. He thinks forcing pregnancy and marriage on the woman he allegedly loves will get him everything he wants. Man, he is wrong…

“The alpha male B.S. really doesn’t fly with me, Cameron.” She put so much venom in the name that it was almost a curse in and of itself. “I have seen centuries of the crap that men have given women, and until recently, I haven’t been able to do much about it.”

Q (Crone Girls Press): Author Interview Question 1: What drove your story for this anthology? Tell us the “story behind the story.”

A (A.M. Giddings): The original idea for this story came after reading a developmental biology review. I was particularly struck by how much the body is physically altered during implantation stage of pregnancy and the story kind of evolved from there.

Q: What does it mean to read and write horror when you’re competing with news headlines (for example, this anthology came about in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe V Wade)? How has it changed (or not!) your approach to the genre as a writer or as a fan?

A: I don’t necessarily think that horror competes with headlines so much as it is informed by them. Social commentary in one form or another has always been a part of horror fiction.

Q: There are a number of different flavors of horror. Where does your story fit, and what drew you to this particular category?

A: This particular story is a mix of body and supernatural horror. I like the visceral nature of this particular category.

Q: Why do you write horror? What about the genre appeals to you as an author?

A: I appreciate the flexibility of the genre and its ability to address uncomfortable subjects.

Q: What’s next in your writing journey?

A: I am working on the third novel in my futuristic fantasy/horror series: Dance of Ages.
