The Fungus Lives!

Trying something new can take a few years off your life. This is true whether you’re taste-testing that new mushroom you found in the woods. Or whether you decided to dip your toe into the world of crowdfunding to create a new mushroom horror anthology…

Well, good news!

Text reads: Dark Spores Stories We Tell After Midnight 4 Kickstarter 100 percent and has copies of the anthology cover and dancing skeletons

What’s next for our intrepid crew?

Stretch goals, of course!

Our first goal is to raise an additional $500 in order to support the promotion, publicity, and marketing of the anthology, post-launch. As an indie press, we want to do everything we can to share the amazing stories our authors have entrusted us with. We have some ideas of how we can keep this momentum going, and some extra marketing budget will allow us to do that.

If we make it, Ravyn Crescent, our content manager and graphics guru, is whipping up a special digital background for your table, phone, or other device, to send out as a thank you!

We will be taking advantage of Late Pledges on Kickstarter. What this means is that we will still have some of our reward tiers available if you are getting here after the Kickstarter closes. Not all of them, though, so if you’ve got your eye on something, now is a good time to check it out!

When does the submissions call open?

Good question! As we mentioned, successfully funding means that we can open our doors to additional stories.

We’ll be hosting our open call from July 1 to July 15 via Duosuma, the submissions manager for Duotrope. If you’d like to preview the call, you can look up Dark Spores: SWTAM4 Open Call and check it out.

For more information, please head over to our Submissions page for a more thorough run-down.

Thank you once again to all of the authors, our cover artist Lynne Hansen, our supporters, backers, and everyone who shared the message of our campaign! We really appreciate it, and we look forward to keeping our momentum growing to bring you a truly terrifying, spore-iffic volume of dark, creepy tales…
