This story starts out gripping and the draw just never stops! Beginning in a dark funeral home, this story amps up the tension as you discover the lead character isn’t there as a mourner, or someone making plans for the ever-after of themselves or someone they care about… Oh no… they are there to see if the dead can truly be brought back to live. This is a spore themed horror you won’t want to miss. Let’s hear more from the author, L. Marie Wood, to learn more about the making of this incredible tale.
“‘Eat one of these and your heart would stop before you could get out of this room.’”
“Adrienne’s hand smoothed the hair away from her face and, with the last of her strength, Tanya tried to lean into her touch.”

Q (Crone Girls Press): What inspired your story in this anthology? Tell us the “story behind the story.”
A (L. Marie Wood): I love the story of what happens before the main event. This story allowed me to explore what happens in relationships before they are challenged by the big bad.
Q: Why do you write horror? What about the genre appeals to you as an author?
A: I always have – ever since I was 5. You could say I was born this way.
Q: There are a number of different flavors of horror. Where does your story fit, and what drew you to this particular category?
A: I write psychological horror mostly, and this story truly fits the bill in the most unexpected of ways.
Q: What do you love about mushrooms? What drew you to this anthology?
A: They are beautiful but can be deadly.
Q: When you’re not writing, what might we find you doing? (Free time or for a day job?)
A: Teaching, reading, and watching movies.
Q: What’s next in your writing journey?
A: So much. So very much! 🙂
